President Tinubu appointed chairman of ECOWAS
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been appointed as the new chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
President Tinubu was appointed during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the ECOWAS on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Tinubu succeeded the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Embalo, who became chairman on July 4, 2022 at the 61st summit in Accra, Ghana.
