The House of Representatives has regretted the killing of the child and is seeking for justice for the child.
The lawmakers also demand that the culprits be brought to book and prosecuted accordingly.
Honourable Unyime Idem, the lawmaker representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in his motion expressed deep concern that a two-year-old child full of life who returned from school, tragically lost his life due to a bullet fired by NDLEA operatives in Asaba.
He also recounted that the bullet not only killed the child but also hit one eye of his younger brother Eromosele Omhonrina causing irreparable damage. The damage to the eye was so much that the boy had to undergo surgery.
Meanwhile, a petition submitted by the father of the boys pleading for justice, was also presented to the House by Honourable Kelechi Nwogu.
The house also urged the NDLEA and all other law enforcement agencies to provide regular training and sensitisation programs for their officers on the appropriate use of firearms, conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and respect for human rights.
The lawmakers further mandated the Committee on Human Rights (when constituted) to ensure that the family of Ivan is adequately compensated for the loss and report back within six weeks.
