Rivers female journalist regain freedom from kidnappers’ den

Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, the talented and determined Director of News at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), has been rescued after being kidnapped in Port Harcourt last Thursday. It is with great relief that her colleague, Ebi Ogolo, Director of Administration at RSBC, confirmed her safe release in the early hours of Thursday.

This distressing incident saw the abductors initially demanding an exorbitant N150 million ransom. However, they eventually lowered their demand to N10 million. It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid prior to Mrs. Nwokocha’s release at the break of dawn today.

To recap the terrifying events, Mrs. Nwokocha was abducted on Thursday night when her vehicle broke down while she was returning home from work. Joined by her husband and their trusted mechanic, she found herself in the clutches of her abductors during their attempt to fix the car.

As of now, the Rivers Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding her freedom.
