Super Falcons secure maximum point after beating Australia 3-2

 

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Thursday secured their first victory after beating Australia 3-2 in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Hosts, Australia were first to find the back of the net courtesy, van Egmond at added time in the first half but the Nigerian midfielder, Uchenna Kanu equalised a minute later before the break.

The Super Falcons knowing fully well this is the only chance they have to go to the next round took the lead in the 65th minute from Osinachi Ohale to make it 2-1.

The lead was doubled by Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala in the 72nd minute to make it 3-1 for the Falcons.

The match which was extended by 13 minutes of added time saw Australia’s Alanna Kennedy pulling one back to make it 3-2.

Thursday’s victory for the Falcons see them topping the table with four points same with Canada but on goal difference.
