Police arrest 17-year-old girl for luring, robbing man of N1.5million

Law enforcement authorities have apprehended Ahiante Victory Ehiremen, a 17-year-old girl, for her alleged involvement in a robbery incident.

According to reports, the girl met the victim on social media, and lured him from Lagos to Osun State where he was subsequently robbed of N1,500,000.

Ehiremen was arrested alongside two accomplices, Ariyo Ayobami (32 years old) and Adeleke Opeyemi (23 years old).

During a press briefing in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, confirmed the arrest of the trio on June 28, 2023, in Ikire.

According to Commissioner Longe, the victim had reported the incident to the police, narrating how he met Ehiremen on social media and was subsequently invited to Osun State from Lagos by her.

Providing further details, Commissioner Longe stated, “Upon arriving in Ikire, Victory lured him to her boyfriend’s house where he encountered other unscrupulous individuals who attacked him and forcefully took his phone.

“They then used his phone to transfer N1.5 million from his account.”

Speaking, the suspect said , “I met the man on WhatsApp and he decided to visit me in Ikire. My boyfriend, Ayobami Oyebanji, a Yahoo boy, got to know about it and after initially complaining, he left me in his apartment.

“I invited the victim over to my boyfriend’s apartment because he has already left me there. But when my boyfriend and his friends burst into my apartment, I was afraid thinking that something terrible had occurred.

“They started asking the victim his reason for visiting his girlfriend whom she met on WhatsApp.

“When they observed that I was afraid, I was asked to enter the room and my boyfriend and his friends pounced on the victim and beat him up.

“My boyfriend later confessed that he collected money from the victim. He gave me N40,000 to take care of myself.”

She however said she regretted getting involved in the act.

The Commissioner of Police said the officers  swiftly acted after a report filed by the victim, leading to the arrest of Ariyo Ayobami from his hideout.

He said subsequent investigation resulted in the apprehension of the two additional accomplices.

“As the investigation continues, efforts are underway to apprehend any remaining individuals involved in the incident. Once the investigation reaches its conclusion, the suspects will face charges in court.

“It is important to note that one of the suspects, Victory, a student at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), confessed that her boyfriend had orchestrated the attack with the assistance of his friends.

“Law enforcement agencies are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. This arrest serves as a reminder of their dedication to combating crime and bringing perpetrators to justice,” he said.
