Vice-President Shettima to represent Tinubu at Global Summits in Italy, Russia

Vice-President Kashim Shettima is set to depart from Abuja on Sunday to represent President Bola Tinubu at two major international summits in Rome, Italy, and St. Petersburg, Russia.

In Rome, Vice President Shettima will join other global leaders for the first Stocktaking Moment (STM) Summit with the theme “Transforming Food Systems for People, Planet, and Prosperity,” scheduled from Monday, 24th to Wednesday, 26th July.

During the summit, the Vice President will chair a high-level session on “Innovative Financing for Food System Transformation: The Case of Nigeria,” as well as a side event on “Scaling up Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration and Investment in the Implementation of Food Systems Transformation Pathways in Nigeria.”

The event is organized in collaboration with the Rome-based UN Agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP), along with the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the wider UN system.

Following the Rome summit, Shettima will proceed to St. Petersburg, Russia, to represent the President at the Russia-Africa Summit scheduled from Wednesday, 26th to Saturday, 29th July.

During his time in Russia, the Vice President will join other political and business leaders at the 2nd Russia–Africa Summit and Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.

The focus of these gatherings is to strategize on enhancing relations between Russia and the African continent, among other beneficial discussions.

The responsibilities bestowed upon Vice President Shettima at these summits reflect the importance of Nigeria’s role in global food systems transformation and its engagement with African and international partners for mutual progress and prosperity.”
