Citizens’ understanding crucial for progress – Gov. Bago
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has called for increased patience and understanding among citizens towards both the state and federal administrations.
This appeal was communicated through a press release by Bologi Ibrahim, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
The Governor made this plea during a visit from the Niger State Imams Forum, led by its Chairman and Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Imam Isah Fari, who were there to extend their congratulations.
Governor Umaru Bago acknowledged the challenges citizens are currently facing but emphasized that these efforts are aimed at securing a better future for the nation and its people.
He urged the members of the Imams forum to promote peaceful co-existence and religious tolerance in their sermons, while encouraging unity and perseverance. The Governor also requested their prayers for the state and the country to regain a prosperous path.

The Governor also discussed the importance of waste management and the need for a clean and safe environment. He encouraged the Imams to help raise awareness about responsible waste disposal.
Furthermore, Governor Umaru Bago encouraged the Forum to endorse the policy direction of the current administration and to continue praying for effective leadership and a secure society.
He advocated for states to manage accommodation arrangements for their own pilgrims rather than relying on a centralized system.
Governor Bago assured the public of his administration’s commitment to providing good governance and revealed plans for a well-equipped hajj camp and improved welfare arrangements.
To foster community engagement, the Governor directed his appointees to participate in Friday prayers in their respective communities to better connect with citizens.
The Chief Imam of Bosso Estate, Imam Umar Faruk Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of the Forum, explained that their visit aimed to congratulate the Governor on his assumption of office.
He highlighted that the Forum, established 18 years ago, includes members from various Muslim sects and is comprised of Chief Imams from the state’s local governments and emirates.
Imam Abdullahi advised the Governor to lead with gratitude, seek divine guidance, and ensure fairness and compassion for all.
He expressed appreciation for the state government’s support and pledged continued prayers for the administration’s success and the resolution of security challenges in the state.
