EPL: Haaland’s brace against Burnley gives Man City bright start 

 

Manchester City kicked off the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) season on a bright note after beating newly promoted Burnley 3-0 thanks to Erling Haaland’s brace and Rodri’s strike at Turf Moor on Friday night.

City took on the lead early in the fourth minute after Haaland sent the ball to the bottom left corner with his left at centre of the box to make it 1-0.

City got control of the game from the hosts despite playing against their former player, Vincent Kompany who is now the manager of Burnley.

The tactical display of Pep Guardiola’s boys made things pretty difficult for Burnley giving City most of the possessions which paid off in the 36th minute seeing Haaland finding the back of the net for the second time to make it 2-0 from an assist from Julian Alvarez.

Guardiola being goal getter despite on a two-goal lead wasn’t satisfied at Haaland’s performance in the first half as he was caught on camera yelling at the Norwegian as they head to the dressing room for half time.

City returned with more zest on the pitch and accuracy on the ball dominated most of the opening minutes in the second half.

With more penetration into Burley’s box paid off in the 75th minute as Rodri who scored City’s winning goal against Inter Milan at the UEFA Champions League final sealed the victory for the Citizens.

Anass Zaroury was sent off in the 94th minute.

No doubt, City are on course for another EPL title after their win over Burnley.

Man City are currently top with points.

Haaland was voted Man of the Match after his two goals at the start of the season as starts the journey for the Golden Boot Award.
