Atiku, Kwankwaso confer privately on political moves

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who represented the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the February 25 presidential election, reportedly held a discreet meeting at Kwankwaso’s residence in Abuja.

The main focus of their discussion appears to be a potential merger between the parties and the current state of affairs in the country, according to News Point Nigeria.

Additionally, they are said to have addressed Nigeria’s involvement in the political situation in the Niger Republic.

The meeting also touched upon judicial matters related to the Tinubu/Atiku tribunal case, concerns surrounding the fuel subsidy removal’s impact on hardship, and the prevailing insecurity issues within the nation.

It remains uncertain whether this potential alliance was prompted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s exclusion of Kwankwaso from his list of ministers. Despite expectations that Kwankwaso would be included, his absence from the list raised eyebrows.

Tinubu’s plan to create a “government of national unity,” which entails offering positions to members of opposition parties, is said to have benefited former Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, who was nominated as a minister, screened, and approved by the Senate.

The meeting was ongoing at the time of this report’s filing.
