Bandits’ daylight attack leaves five dead, dozens kidnapped
Bandits unleashed terror in broad daylight in Danmusa LGA, Katsina State, resulting in the tragic death of one man, Rabilu Tukur, and the kidnapping of numerous women.
The attack occurred around 1 pm as Tukur, a Danmusa LG staff member, was returning home after dropping off a passenger.
According to an anonymous resident of Dan Ali village, the attackers relentlessly pursued Tukur and brutally hacked him to death with a cutlass.

Additionally, the bandits targeted locals who had sought refuge in Dan Ali, stealing multiple animals from them.
Residents have expressed their growing concern about the escalating cases of banditry in the area, with the bandits appearing to operate with impunity.
In a related incident, on Friday, bandits infiltrated Maidabino village, conducting a house-to-house raid, resulting in one casualty and the kidnapping of a woman, along with the theft of livestock.
A resident of Maidabino reported that the attackers arrived in large numbers around 2 pm, assaulting several homes.
Tragically, they killed a man who had taken refuge in his toilet, shooting him, and abducting his wife. Shockingly, despite the presence of nearby soldiers stationed at a school, they failed to respond until after the terrorists had left the area.
Another attack occurred in Sabon Garin Unguwar Ganau, resulting in the loss of three lives and the kidnapping of a dozen women.
Astonishingly, the only relatively safe place in Danmusa LGA seems to be the local government headquarters, with all other villages facing frequent attacks.
In a separate incident in Kankara LGA, attackers, reportedly invited by local bandits, invaded Yar Tsamiyar Jino village.
Fortunately, a Nigerian Airforce fighter jet successfully dispersed the assailants. The bandits in the area have imposed a levy of N3 million on the villagers, but an agreement between the locals and one of the bandit leaders saved them from this burden.
Villages in the western part of Kankara LGA are predominantly under the control of bandit leaders who have confiscated farms and forced the villagers into servitude. Many residents have shared their horrifying experiences, revealing that they are living as hostages within their own communities.
These bandit atrocities come at a time when the state government has allocated N7.8 billion to procure security equipment to combat banditry, with Governor Radda stating that his administration would be more proactive rather than reactive.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident at Dan Ali. He mentioned that an ongoing operation was in progress in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
Regarding the recent resurgence of attacks in the state, the police spokesman disclosed that there was a comprehensive plan underway involving the state government, police, and other security agencies to address the situation.
While he couldn’t disclose the details of the plan, he assured that they were preparing for a collaborative effort to combat the situation.
