Atiku’s lawyer presents evidence of fake certificates, forged signature by President Tinubu

Angela Liu, the lawyer representing former Vice President and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 presidential elections, has presented what she claims to be undeniable evidence in a US court.

Her aim is to demonstrate that President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) submitted fraudulent certificates from Chicago State University (CSU).

Liu has also alleged that one of the signatures on these certificates was forged.

Atiku is currently seeking access to Tinubu’s academic records from the University, believing it would strengthen his case in the Nigerian court, as he contests the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in which Tinubu was declared the winner.

Tinubu’s legal team, represented by Oluwole Afolabi and Christopher Carmichael, has attributed the discrepancies in the documents to an unnamed clerk’s error regarding Tinubu’s graduation date.

However, they haven’t provided an explanation for why three different school administrators signed one of the certificates while two others signed the second.

In response to Tinubu’s defense, Angela Liu raised critical questions regarding the “glaring differences” found on the certificates.

She pointed out, “Document ‘A’ is signed by at least three people, whereas ‘B’ is signed by only two.”

Furthermore, she highlighted the inconsistency in the dates: “Document ‘E’ states that Tinubu was issued a certificate on 22nd June 1979 but then submitted a copy of a certificate (‘B’) dated 27th June 1979. Notably, ‘A’ is dated 22nd June 1979, but it didn’t come from CSU; only ‘B’ did.”

Liu asserted, “It is clear that either ‘A’ or ‘B,’ if not both, is fake. Having two certificates issued by the same university to the same person for the same course of study but on different dates and signed by two different sets of people is highly improbable.”

Additionally, Liu pointed out that both ‘A’ and ‘B’ state that Tinubu graduated with a BSc in ‘Business AND Administration,’ while document ‘E,’ from CSU, states that he graduated with a BSc in ‘Business Administration.’

She referenced the university’s course offerings on their website, which made no mention of ‘business and administration.’

Liu argued that Elnora D. Daniel, one of the three people who signed one of the certificates, couldn’t have been involved in 1979 as she only served as the university’s president between 1998 and 2008. According to Liu, this raises concerns about potential forgery to conceal fraud.

“The court will decide in the coming weeks whether to compel the school to release Tinubu’s academic records or deny Atiku’s request to access them,” Liu concluded.
