Another coup in Africa as Gabon military officers seize power, cancel election results
The military of Gabon has canceled the results of the presidential elections and dissolved the power structures.
According to reports, the country had re-elected incumbent President Ali bin Bongo Ondimba for a third term with 64% of vote count.
However, the opposition claimed that the elections were rigged.

The family of the current president has been in power in the country for 56 years. Previously, from 1967 to 2009, the president was the father of the current head of state.
The scare for a military takeover is coming less than a month after military in the West African country of Niger ousted the democratically elected president Mohamed Bazoum and seized power.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has been imposing sanctions in an effort to contain the crisis and return back power to the civilian government.
