Founder of Agape Evangelical Ministries arrested following death of female evangelist in guest house
The police in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State have taken Bishop Otu Timothy, the founder of Agape Evangelical Ministries (City of Miracles), into custody following the death of a married female evangelist and mother of five, identified as “Evangelist Happiness,” in a guest house.
The incident occurred at the Jubilee Guest House in the Ogborhill area of Aba on the evening of August 12th, 2023. Bishop Otu had allegedly left the inn, claiming to buy food, but never returned. Suspecting something was amiss, the guest house manager alerted the Eastern Ngwa Police Station, leading to the discovery of the victim’s lifeless body in a room. She was found naked and foaming from the mouth and nose.

Evidence gathered suggests a romantic involvement between the deceased and Bishop Otu, who is said to have founded the Agape Evangelical Ministries Inc., where the evangelist was a member. As part of their investigation, undercover detectives attended his Sunday Service and subsequently apprehended him.
At present, Bishop Otu is being detained at the Eastern Ngwa Police Station, where authorities continue to investigate the matter.
The victim’s husband, who was unavailable for comment, is believed to be away for work in Bayelsa State.
In a brief telephone conversation, the Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Maureen Chinaka, stated that she did not have all the details regarding the incident at this time.
