FRSC prohibits use of rickety vehicles on Nigerian roads

In a significant move towards ensuring the safety of all road users, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has issued a nationwide clampdown on rickety vehicles.

The decision came after a video of an old vehicle with severe mechanical issues went viral, highlighting the potential dangers such vehicles pose to road users.

Announcing the order on Thursday, August 17, the Corps’ Public Enlightenment Officer (CPEO), Bisi Kazeem, stated that the immediate action was necessary to avoid any untoward incidents.

Kazeem explained that the vehicle in the video had a back tire completely detached, while the driver was attempting to control the vehicle with three worn-out tires.

To deter further risks, the corps marshal has instructed authorities to promptly apprehend the vehicle in question and arrest its owner.

This stringent measure reinforces FRSC’s commitment to upholding road safety standards and ensuring the well-being of all road users.
