Haske Children Foundation organises free medical outreach for disabled Kaduna children

Haske Children Foundation has organised a medical outreach to provide medical services and free meals to over 500 disabled children in Kaduna State.
A World Report on Disability published in 2011 showed that about 25 million Nigerians have at least one form of disability and about 3.6 million of them had very significant difficulties functioning properly.
This was the case of some children brought in by their parents to the free medical outreach organised by Haske Children Foundation.
The programme was organised to provide sustainable physical, mental, and emotional healthcare for the overall well-being of over 500 beneficiaries.
Services offered during the programme include general consultation/treatment, medical dispensary, trauma management and free food shared among disabled children.

A medical doctor and volunteer of the Haske Children Foundation Dr. Nasiru Muhammad Sakai highlighted some common diseases and conditions seen among disabled children including skin allergies, Eczema, and Gastrointestinal symptoms.
Dr. Muhammad also mentioned Asthma, which has been found among children with developmental disabilities.
He said, “Some causes of these diseases are preventable, that is why it is important to spread the message across so that affected children can be taken to the hospital immediately.
Speaking during the outreach, Aisha Muhammad, a mother of 5 disabled children from Badarawa, appreciated the doctors for the special intervention and enlightenment provided during the event.
“We thank God and thank the organisers, they have put a smile on our faces and that of our children, Doctors advised us to take special care of our children as their condition is not a spiritual problem but a condition of the brain”.
Earlier, the founder of Haske Children Foundation, Fatima Bello, said the target of the outreach is to donate food and provide medical diagnoses to at least 500 disabled children from different communities in Kaduna State.
Quoting the UNFPA’s 2021 World Population Dashboard, Save the Children International, said an estimated 32 million people in Nigeria including children live with one form of disability or the other, and face different types of discrimination which include having limited access to basic social services like healthcare and education.
