In a tragic turn of events, a heavy rainfall in Gombe State has led to the destruction of at least 100 houses, leaving approximately 500 individuals without a home. The incident occurred in the Dogon Ruwa community in Kaltungo LGA, resulting in the loss of 15 goats, valuable food items, and other properties.

Murtala Aliyu, the Secretary of the Gombe Branch of the Red Cross, issued a statement highlighting the devastating impact of the flood on the people of Dogon Ruwa. The lack of shelter has become a pressing concern for the affected community members, leaving families exposed and vulnerable to further risks.

In response to the situation, the Red Cross has initiated an assessment of the area to determine the immediate needs of the affected individuals. Situation reports will be sent to their headquarters for swift and necessary support.
