Kano police refute reports of protest over ECOWAS invasion plans
The Nigeria Police in Kano State have denied reports of a protest in the city against the proposed ECOWAS military Qintervention in Niger.
Although reports indicated that hundreds of Nigerians had taken to the streets to voice their opposition, the Kano Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Kiyawa, refuted these claims, dismissing the viral protest video as a mere rumor.

Kiyawa clarified that the circulated footage actually showed a procession organized by members of the El-Zakky (Shiat) group.
This group frequently conducts processions every Friday to express their dissatisfaction with various issues in the country. The misunderstanding of the El-Zakky procession as a protest in Kano contributed to the false reports.
Furthermore, Kiyawa stated that, to the best of his knowledge, no protests were occurring in Kano.
However, an anonymous source from within the police command revealed that no permission had been granted to anyone or any group to stage a protest in the state.
The source mentioned that officials had been strategically deployed within the state capital, Kano, due to the graduation ceremony of Cadet Inspectors at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil.
Contrary to the reports, the Kano Police Command firmly maintained that there was no protest against the ECOWAS invasion in the city.
