In a distressing incident on Thursday, August 17, 2023, a prominent Lagos socialite, Farida Abdulkabir Sobowale, was saved from a suicide attempt on the bustling 3rd mainland bridge
Abdulkabir, known for her thriving beauty lounge and spare store at the exquisite address of 116 Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos, had recently married fellow high-profile socialite Demola Okulaja in a highly publicized ceremony. However, their marriage quickly deteriorated, ultimately ending after just two months.

Sources revealed that domestic violence plagued the couple’s relationship, resulting in Okulaja leaving their shared home. The situation escalated to an alarming degree, with both parties resorting to airing their family’s private matters on social media.
Their public exchanges grew increasingly vitriolic, with accusations, name-calling, and shocking revelations.

Tragically, on Thursday evening, Abdulkabir reached her breaking point and attempted to take her own life on the 3rd mainland bridge. Thankfully, she was rescued in the nick of time.
