Madakin Zazzau resigns, new District Heads named

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Tensions have flared within the Zazzau Emirate as Alhaji Muhammadu Munnir Ja’afaru, the Madakin Zazzau, resigned from his post as the District Head of Basawa following a disagreement with the Emir.

Ja’afaru’s decision to step down came as no surprise, given his bitter feelings since losing the Emirship race to Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR.

His frustration culminated in his recent resignation as the District Head of Basawa, a position he had held before being appointed Madaki of Zazzau.

The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, made swift moves to fill the vacant positions. Architect Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, the District Head of Zangon Aya, was appointed as the substantive District Head of Basawa.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Zubairu, the Wamban Doko, was appointed as the new District Head of Rigacikun. Additionally, the incumbent District Head of Rigacikun, Bajimin Kidun Zazzau, Alhaji Abdulrashid Sani, was reassigned to Zangon Aya as the new District Head.

These leadership changes were announced with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity Officer of Zazzau Emirate Council.

The appointments and reassignments signal a shift in power dynamics within the Zazzau Emirate, as the Emir asserts his authority by making strategic changes to the leadership structure.
