Mob in Lagos attacks policeman over BRT crash
A mob brutally attacked an unidentified policeman in Lagos after a man named Yusuf was pushed into a BRT lane by the police in the Ketu area of Lagos State.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the policemen were attempting to seize Yusuf’s vehicle, which led to him being pushed onto the BRT lane.
Consequently, a BRT bus collided with Yusuf, causing him to collapse due to the impact.

One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that the police were responsible for Yusuf’s unfortunate situation.
She mentioned that Yusuf sustained various injuries due to the incident and that the policemen’s actions triggered the series of events that led to the accident.
Another observer, who spoke hurriedly amidst the chaotic scene, reported that once the mob realized Yusuf had been hit by the BRT bus, they turned their anger towards the police. One of the officers attempted to flee but was apprehended by the enraged crowd.
“It was the people who relentlessly attacked the policeman until he lost consciousness. He hasn’t died yet, as I noticed he was still breathing. People were understandably furious about the treatment of the man,” he recounted.
Yusuf suffered severe injuries and was lying unconscious on the ground, with his blood staining the road.
While evaluating the injuries sustained by Yusuf due to the impact of the accident, our correspondent noticed a deep cut on his right arm as he was hurriedly placed into a vehicle for transport to a hospital.
Police officers from the Ketu Division quickly arrived at the scene to restore order. The unidentified policeman was also swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, assured our correspondent that he would provide further information, but as of the time this report was filed, he had not yet done so.
