National Youth Games tournament commences in Yobe
The National Youth Games (NYG) Zonal Elimination for the North East region has commenced in Yobe State.
The event is being held at a prestigious venue in Yobe State and will last till 27 August 2023.
The tournament has attracted the attention of various stakeholders, including members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

Vice President of SWAN North East, Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi, is representing SWAN President Mr Isaiah Benjamin at the elimination series.
The zonal event received additional support from the Chairmen of Adamawa, Bauchi and the host state as Chairman Michael Oshomah was also present to provide comprehensive coverage of the event.
Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, who is representing the State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, shared the Governor’s excitement regarding the tournament.
The Governor emphasized the importance of providing a platform for young athletes from the region to showcase their talent and compete at a national level.
The participating states in the zonal competition include Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, and the host state, Yobe. The teams have been meticulously preparing for the championship and are eager to display their skills and determination.
Sports enthusiasts and spectators can look forward to an exciting and action-packed event, as the athletes showcase their worth in various sports disciplines.
The National Youth Games serve as a launching pad for young athletes to gain experience and exposure, with the chance to represent their states and potentially earn a call-up to the national team.
