Niger: Burkina Faso leader readies forces amid looming tension
Burkina Faso President, Captain Ibrahim Traore, has declared readiness with his forces in the event of external aggression following the perceived tension in Niger Republic after the country’s military junta has refused to back down.
This comes after the seven-day ultimatum given by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) expires on Sunday.

Also, the African Union (AU) in their own capacity issued a 15-day ultimatum to the military junta to return power to President Mohammed Bazoum.
While these pressures including economic sanctions by the ECOWAS mean nothing to the military in the country another resort by the ECOWAS is military intervention which the bloc is yet to decide.
While the military has refused to heed to the call of the ECOWAS there are reports that the military has signed a pact with the Wagner Group to deploy troops into the country, as per France 24.
The have reportedly called for the rapid deployment of Wagner Group forces in the country.
Reacting to this, a Nigerian musician, Chukwuka Nwaneri, professionally known as Kal Afrorock, a native of Abia State, has hailed Ibrahim Traoré.
He wrote, “Ibrahim Traore, great to see you guys rise up in UNITY to protect the land and interest of your People.
It is quite refreshing to also see some REAL African solidarity among Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, Algeria and Niger.
“I’m not surprised that the alleged selected Nigeria president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made a negative and inflammatory comments against the success you guys are achieving on removing bad actors and puppets.
“Ignore those disingenuous African Bodies and their discouraging words.
“More success and accomplishment to you All. Remember to keep your eyes open and make deals that will bring REAL tangibles and benefits to your people and the country.
“The Global movement for a New and Better Africa must be fulfilled.
“We’re keeping an eye on you guys.
— Kal Afrorock.”
