NYSC warns corps members against indecent dressing, encourages active participation
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to corps members, urging them to uphold the dignity of the corps by dressing appropriately in their uniforms and avoiding indecent dressing.
This caution was emphasized by Mr. Jingi Denis, the NYSC Adamawa Coordinator, during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2023 batch ‘B’ Stream 2 orientation course at Damare camp in Girei Local Government, Adamawa.

Denis made it clear that any corps member found flouting the dress code regulations would face appropriate sanctions. He also stressed the importance of familiarizing themselves with and strictly adhering to the provisions outlined in the NYSC Act and NYSC Bye-Laws. By following these guidelines, corps members can avoid potential repercussions that may negatively impact their future careers.
In addition to emphasizing dress code regulations, Denis encouraged the corps members to take the camp programs and activities seriously and actively partake in them. This active participation will contribute to a fruitful and transformative experience during their service year.
During the event, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri congratulated the corps members on their successful completion of their education and deployment to Adamawa.
Fintiri, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edga Amos, reminded the corps members that white-collar jobs are not readily available and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities for self-employment through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Program.
Addressing the corps members as strategic partners in implementing people-oriented policies and programs, especially in the fields of education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development, Fintiri assured continued support for the NYSC scheme in the state. He emphasized the importance of their welfare and security, and urged them to make the most of the opportunities they have been given.
Further underscoring the significance of the camp rules and regulations, Mr. Wali Yakubu, Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in Adamawa, urged the corps members to abide by them. He specifically highlighted the importance of active participation in the skills acquisition program, which, when fully embraced, can transform them into job creators rather than job seekers.
It is expected that with this warning and encouragement, the corps members will abide by the dress code regulations and actively engage in the programs and activities offered during their orientation course, ultimately shaping their future with a sense of responsibility and purpose.
