Rescued chibok girl longs for reunion with Boko Haram husband
Mary Nkeki, a twenty-seven-year-old Chibok schoolgirl who was abducted nine years ago, has been rescued by Nigerian Army troops.
She was paraded at the headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai Theatre command, where she shared her remarkable story.
Mary revealed that her Boko Haram husband, Adam, played a crucial role in aiding her escape after surrendering to the army.
Mary, who was the fifty-fifth on the list of abducted schoolgirls, recounted how her Boko Haram husband, Adam, facilitated her escape following his surrender to Nigerian Army troops.
Tragically, she also disclosed the loss of their two children. Despite the harrowing circumstances, Mary confessed to her enduring love for her former husband and expressed her desire to be reunited with him.
“As for my marriage, my husband is still alive and I am still in love with him. I don’t know whether he is still in Dikwa or they brought him to Maiduguri but I will love to be reunited with him if it will be possible,” she said.
During Monday’s event, the Theatre Commander, Major General Gold Chibuisi, disclosed that Mary had been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army in Dikwa on August 14.
He further stated that the rescued schoolgirl had undergone immediate medical checks at the Army’s facility and had been certified as stable. She will now be handed over to the state government for further assessment.
The commander’s announcement marked the sixteenth successful rescue of a Chibok schoolgirl in 2023, providing hope and relief in the ongoing efforts to bring these young women back to safety.
