School shut down after security guard allegedly defiled 4-year-old pupil
The Lagos State Government has shut down a private school, Greater Scholars International in the Lekki area of the state, after a security guard allegedly defiled a four-year-old pupil.
According to reports, the state government took actions against the school after the school’s security guard, David James, on April 27, 2023, defiled the little girl under the pretext of cleaning her.

Meanwhile, the accused, James, 23, was arraigned before Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi of Magistrate’s Court 1, Ogba, on a charge of sexual assault.
It was gathered that concerned Nigerians including friends, family members and representatives of Nongovernmental Organisations (NGOs) after a recent protest at the school’s premises demanded justice for the child and the closure of the school.
The school has been temporarily shut down by the Lagos State Ministry of Education until conclusion of investigation.
However, the accused has been remanded in custody and hearing of the case to resume on September 4, 2023.
