Tiktoker faces jail for cyberstalking Nollywood actress
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos sentenced Okoye Blessing Nwakaego, a TikToker, to three years in prison for cyberstalking Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo convicted Nwakaego based on her guilty plea to a two-count charge of cyberstalking.
However, the judge took into account the convict’s remorse and provided her with an option to pay a fine of N150,000 instead of serving jail time.

According to the charges, Nwakaego and one Chimabia (who is currently at large) conspired to commit the offence between December 2022 and July 2023 in Lagos. They knowingly transmitted offensive and false communication via TikTok, Gossipmill TV, remedy blog, and other social media platforms, using her mobile number.
The police described her conduct as “grossly offensive, false, and intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, and needless anxiety to the prejudice of Badmus.”
The court learned that the offence contravened sections 24(1)(b)(2)(a)(c) and 27 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015.
During the trial, the prosecution counsel, Nosa Uhumwangho, reviewed the facts of the case, stating that Nwakaego confessed to making the defamatory video after being prompted by a male friend.
According to Nosa, Blessing said her friend claimed to know Eniola Badmus and narrated the false story about her. She then shared the story with another friend, Chimabia, who asked her to create a video about it, falsely alleging that Eniola Badmus specialized in introducing young Nigerian girls to men.
After making the video, Chimabia rewarded her with N200,000 and asked her to post it on TikTok, where it gained over three million views.
