It was a very busy week as usual, although there were no too much noises. Starting with the APC’s NWC, NEC, NGF meetings, the visits to the Inspector General of Police IGP to strenthen security across the state and the meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held at the Presidential Villa to the several open and closed-doors meetings in Abuja throughout the week.
One thing was a common factor in all Governor Mai Mala Buni’s activities, the ‘Yobe First Policy’ setting the right tones for development administration which he has demonstrated and continued to demonstrate in moving the state forward.
At the Presidential Villa, Gov. Buni, briefed the President on some areas that are in need of federal intervention to improve the lives of the people.

He briefed the President on the recovery efforts made by the state government and the need to support the people with sustainable means of livelihood.
Gov. Buni said, “The government and people of Yobe State would appreciate provision of more infrastructure to hasten the reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery process of the state government.”
President Tinubu commended Governor Buni for the recovery efforts, assuring that the federal government would be on the same page with Yobe State Government to improve and make life more meaningful to the people of the state.
During the last weeks, those keenly watching the activities of Gov. Buni have identified one issue as the uppermost in his mind to among several other interventions to bring succour to the people. These are the steps taken to provide palliatives to the people.
It would be recalled that Gov. Buni has given directives to the State
Palliatives Committee to mobilise resources for immediate distribution and implementation to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
He said the committee would mobilise resources at the disposal of the state government to support the people.
“The Committee has commenced work and working out plans and strategies to cover every sector of the society especially those in need.
“It is going to be comprehensive and total, with priority attention given to those who truly deserve the support,” he said.
Gov. Buni also directed the committee to map out a holistic approach identifying areas that require immediate, intermediate and long term interventions.
Already, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has commenced distribution of food materials to People With Disabilities.
The Governor assured that government will provide support in other critical sectors like transport, and continue with its empowerment programmes, as well as providing accessible and affordable healthcare delivery and education among others.
He said the intervention would cover every sector in the private sector, civil servants, farmers and students among others.
