Violence Strikes Katsina: 14 abducted, 1 dead

At least fourteen villagers have been abducted across three different villages in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The abductions occurred in separate attacks, where gunmen invaded the villages around 1:00 am yesterday.

The affected villages are Yakkaka in Gazari ward, Yallagwada in Maibakko ward, and Maiturmi in Rafin-Iwa ward.

In Yakkaka village, seven individuals were abducted, while in Yallagwada village, six people were taken. Additionally, a woman was kidnapped from Maiturmi village.

Fortunately, the Vigilante Group, operating in the area, managed to rescue the abducted woman from Maiturmi village.

Eyewitnesses from the state Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria reported that a similar attack occurred around 1:00 am in the neighbouring Dandume Local Government Area.

During this attack, the suspected terrorists killed a son of the Tudun Ali ward head.

Police spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq confirmed the incidents on Wednesday.

He assured that the police are actively responding to the situation to rescue the victims and apprehend the terrorists.

“Yes, we have received the report and are making progress. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the criminals responsible,” Sadiq stated.
