Wakama, 1st female coach to win AfroBasket women’s championship 57 years after
The newly appointed coach of Nigeria’s female basketball team – D’Tigress, Rena Wakama, has become the first female coach in the history of AfroBasket Women to win the title after 57 years of its existence.
Recall on Saturday, the D’Tigress put a show with the Senegal side to win the trophy by 84-74.

This year’s edition of the tournament for the D’Tigress was phenomenal as they won every single game beating DR Congo, Egypt, Mozambique, and Rwanda before slaying Senegal in the final.
Wakama, 31, was appointed to take charge of the team less than two months and she has been able to live up to expectations.
