Yobe residents commend YOSEMA, Gov. Buni for equitable palliative distribution

Residents of Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State have applauded the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni and the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) for the impartial and fair distribution of palliatives aimed at mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
The launch of the distribution took place on Wednesday in Potiskum, the administrative centre of the Zone B senatorial district.

A multitude of eager residents gathered at the Yobe Flour Mills complex, the designated distribution site, under the watchful eye of strong security operatives.
Hauwa Ibrahim, a resilient person who faces physical challenges, expressed belief that the ongoing distribution of palliatives will enormously mitigate the impact of subsidy removal in the country, and conveyed heartfelt appreciation to both YOSEMA and Governor Buni for their efforts.
Similarly, Rahma Ali, a widow and mother of three, emotionally shared how the support has lifted a considerable weight off her shoulders, ensuring her children’s well-being during these uncertain times.
“The distribution is so fair as all beneficiaries are people from vulnerable households, and it will go a long way in reducing the poverty that people are are wallowing in,” she said.
Ibrahim Yusuf, an elderly gentleman, spoke of the relief the aid brought him, and how it enabled him to redirect his limited resources towards other essential needs.
On his part, Dr. Mohammed Goje, the Executive Secretary of YOSEMA, personally supervised the distribution process and emphasized the state government’s steadfast commitment to reaching households across Yobe with the food aid packages.
Dr. Goje reiterated that 6,800 households received a substantial food package weighing 20 kilograms, designed to sustain them for two weeks and more.
He said the measure aims to provide immediate relief to families and enable them to actively participate in agricultural activities during the farming season.
Furthermore, Dr. Goje stated that the distribution strategy primarily focuses on prioritising vulnerable groups such as the elderly, widows, orphans, and those facing challenging circumstances.
“This approach perfectly aligns with Governor Buni’s compassionate vision, as he endeavours to alleviate the hardships faced by the most marginalised members of the community.
“The ongoing food aid distribution within Yobe State demonstrates the state’s proactive commitment. The state embarked on this initiative right after the removal of fuel subsidy.
“Additionally, we have already started receiving shipments of federal government aid, reflecting our resolute determination to expand our efforts to cover more communities and households within the state,” Goje concluded.
