Gunmen storm Abuja estate, kidnap resident

Gunmen launched a brazen attack on an estate in the Kuchiko Resettlement Development Area (KRDA) of Bwari Local Council in Abuja, kidnapping a resident. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the popularly known El-Rufai Estate.

The victim, identified as Chinedu, was forcibly taken from his home within the estate. According to his wife, the armed kidnappers broke through the fence and entered their compound, firing shots in the air to intimidate both their family members and neighbors before snatching Chinedu.

As of press time, the kidnappers have not made contact with the family. The Chairman of the Kuchiko Resettlement Development Area, Mai Baba Bego, expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting that this is the fifth kidnapping case in the area within the past few months.

“We now live in fear, as nobody knows who the next victim will be,” stated Baba Bego. He urgently called for enhanced security measures and the deployment of security personnel to prevent further incidents.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

This alarming incident further highlights the pressing need for increased security measures and prompt action to ensure the safety of residents in Abuja.
