DSS arrests CBN Deputy Governor over alleged $300 million fraud

The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended Ms. Aisha Ahmad, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) responsible for financial system stability, on charges of fraud.

According to sources, Ms. Ahmad is currently under detention due to alleged fraudulent stock acquisitions involving Polaris Bank and Titan Bank/Union Bank.

The source disclosed that Ms. Ahmad is undergoing interrogation regarding the acquisition of Union Bank, specifically how Titan Bank managed to secure $300 million for the transaction.

As of press time, DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya was unavailable for comment on Ms. Ahmad’s arrest.
