Gunmen in Kogi abduct prominent doctor
Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have abducted Dr. Austin Uwumagbe, the Director of Victory Hospital-Annex located in Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Dr. Uwumagbe was last seen on Tuesday after he had finished his work and was heading home.
According to a source at the hospital, the abductors have contacted his family, demanding a substantial ransom for his release.
The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) confirmed Dr. Uwumagbe’s abduction in a statement issued in Lokoja yesterday.

In a joint statement signed by the state NMA Chairman, Dr. Baoku Olusola, and Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Bola Jonah, it was revealed that their colleague was kidnapped shortly after leaving his hospital on Tuesday.
The statement by the NMA read, “He was abducted along with his car, an ash-colored 406 Peugeot with Registration number DAV 561 AA, at approximately 8:30 pm on Tuesday.”
While condemning this act, the NMA has called for the immediate release of their kidnapped member. Additionally, they have urged security agencies to take swift action to secure his freedom.
Efforts to reach the Kogi State police command’s spokesman, William Aya, have been unsuccessful as he did not respond to text messages or calls.
