Adamawa residents offer special prayers for rainfall


On Tuesday, thousands of Muslim faithful gathered in Hong, the administrative headquarters of Adamawa state‘s Hong local government area, for a special prayer session aimed at seeking divine intervention for rainfall. This marked the third time this year that such a congregation took place, highlighting the significance of this tradition.

The prayer, known as “Salatul Istisqa’a,” was organized to pray for rain that would not hinder the anticipated bumper harvest. Led by esteemed Imam Zubairu Mahmud Fari, the session saw the attendance of distinguished individuals like the District Head of Hong, Dan-Maliki Adamawa, Alhaji Umar Babangida Mahmoud (Khadimul-Qur’an).

Imam Fari guided the congregation in supplicating to Allah SWT, beseeching Him to accept their prayers for rainfall and alleviate the hardships faced by people across the country. He also fervently prayed for a bountiful harvest and for divine forgiveness of the people’s sins.

The heartfelt words of Imam Fari were met with a resounding “Amen” from the gathering, as they joined in his hopes and wishes for abundant blessings and mercy from Allah.

It is worth noting that Christians in the area also held special prayers for rainfall and a successful harvest within their respective churches. This display of unity and cooperation among people of different faiths showcases the harmonious spirit prevailing in the region.

The prayer session was organised at the request of Dan Malikin Adamawa and the District Head of Hong, Alhaji Umar Babangida Mahmoud.

Their directive calling on Muslims and Christians to come together for this special occasion was met with overwhelming response, with thousands of worshipers joining in, demonstrating their unity and faithfulness.
