DSS begins investigation into clash between operatives, mob at Abuja market

Following a clash between Department of State Services (DSS) operatives and a mob at Garki Market in the Federal Capital Territory earlier today, the DSS has initiated an investigation to determine who is responsible for the incident.

In a statement released by Dr. Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the DSS, it was stated that the purpose of the probe is to ascertain whether the DSS operatives or the mob were at fault during the altercation.

“The Department of State Services has been made aware of an incident that occurred a few hours ago at Garki Market, Abuja, involving its personnel and a mob,” Afunanya said in the statement.

Initial reports indicate that the DSS’s FCT Command reacted to a distress call from their operatives who were allegedly attacked by the mob at the market.

The DSS has assured the public that the details of the investigation will be disclosed in due course. Afunanya emphasized that if the DSS personnel are found to be in the wrong or have violated standard operating procedures in dealing with members of the public, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken.

The DSS remains committed to transparency and accountability in its operations and will take necessary steps to address any misconduct if discovered.

Further updates on the investigation will be communicated to the public as soon as possible by the DSS.
