Eid El Maulud: Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi advocates for respectful discourse among religious leaders

Story from Ahmad SAKA, Bauchi

Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ibrahim Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has issued a call to religious clerics across the country, urging them to refrain from making inflammatory statements that could incite violence and disrupt the peaceful coexistence among Muslims in Nigeria.

Ibrahim, the eldest son of Sheikh Dahiru, conveyed this message during a press conference in Bauchi as part of preparations for Eid el Maulud celebration.

He emphasized that verbal attacks on each other’s interpretations of religious matters often fuel animosity among religious clerics.

He appealed to the people, particularly the Ulamas (Islamic scholars), to avoid casting aspersions on one another during their sermons.

He stressed that fostering mutual understanding and upholding the age-old tradition of harmonious coexistence is essential to ensure stability in the nation.

Ibrahim implored Nigerians to refrain from cursing their leaders, even in the face of the current challenges in the country.

Ibrahim remarked, “Hardship and prosperity are both blessings from Almighty Allah. At this time, Nigerians should turn to Allah in prayer and exercise patience. We should remain hopeful that things will improve. What is expected of us is patience and prayers, and we must contribute positively to improving our society through legitimate means. We should abstain from insulting or cursing our leaders, and we should remember the teachings of great Islamic Scholars like Shehu Tijjani, Sheikh Ibrahim, Shehu Abdulkadir, and Shehu DanFodiyo, who have made significant contributions to the growth of Islam. Such behavior goes against the teachings of the Holy Prophet.”

The Scholar emphasized the importance of unity and urged Muslims to practice their religious rights in accordance with Islamic teachings.

He discouraged any actions that could potentially divide the Muslim community.
