Gov. Uba Sani condemns attack on Catholic Parish, pledges justice

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State strongly condemned the recent attack on Fadan Kamatan Parish, Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, situated in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In this horrific incident, Catholic Seminarian Stephen Naman Ngofe lost his life as bandits set fire to the residence of the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan in Fadan Kamatan, Zangon Kataf, on Thursday.

Expressing profound outrage at the killings, Governor Sani vowed to apprehend the culprits behind this heinous crime and ensure they face the full force of the law.

Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, released a statement on Friday, underscoring that this attack was carried out with the explicit intention of stoking ethnic and religious tensions in Kaduna State, thereby undermining the government’s efforts to rebuild trust within its communities.

Governor Sani stated, “I am deeply saddened by the attack on Fadan Kamatan Parish, Zangon Kataf. This act of violence against innocent worshippers not only targets the Catholic community but also seeks to divide our people. We will not tolerate such acts of brutality and will utilize all lawful means to bring the attackers to justice.”

The Governor urged security agencies to promptly investigate the incident and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

He reassured the public that his administration has taken proactive steps to restore peace in troubled communities by strengthening partnerships with security agencies and revitalizing the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS).

Similarly, Francis Sani, the Council Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, expressed sorrow over the incident.
