Gunmen in Taraba kill wife in husband’s presence, abduct two others
In a tragic incident in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, unidentified gunmen took the life of a housewife and injured her husband on Sunday.
The state Police Command’s spokesman, SP Usman Abdullahi, shared this unfortunate news during a telephone interview with Daily Trust.
The horrifying event unfolded in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo metropolis.
According to Abdullahi, the assailants forcibly entered the residence of Mr. Balanko Gamalia and opened fire on both him and his wife, seemingly with the intent to abduct them.

Tragically, Mr. Gamalia’s wife lost her life on the spot, while her injured husband is currently undergoing treatment at a Jalingo hospital.
Abdullahi further reported that during the attack, two individuals, including a woman, were abducted from the house.
The police are actively pursuing the kidnappers, and Abdullahi urged the public to cooperate by providing any information that could assist in apprehending these criminals.
This incident follows a similar occurrence on May 7, when gunmen targeted Mr. Boyi Manja, the Caretaker Committee chairman of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State.
During that attack, Mr. Manja’s orderly was tragically killed before the kidnappers took him to an undisclosed location.
Fortunately, Mr. Manja was released from captivity on Thursday, May 11, 2023, as reported by PUNCH.
