I beheaded old farmer under the influence of hard drugs – Ondo labourer
A tragic incident occurred in Ondo State after a labourer named Sunday Clement was remanded in prison custody for allegedly beheading an old farmer, Taye Alatoye.
The incident took place in Ofosu community, Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
Following the incident, the 24-year-old labourer defendant was arrested by the men of the state police command and was later charged to court and arraigned on a one-count charge of murder.
According to reports, Clement and Alatoye were both on their way to the farm when the defendant suddenly attacked the victim, cutting his neck with a sharpened cutlass.

The prosecutor, Mary Adebayo, stated that the offense was committed on September 4, 2023, and it contravenes Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
During the hearing at the Ondo State Chief Magistrate Court in Akure, the defendant pleaded for forgiveness, claiming that he committed the act under the influence of hard drugs. The Chief Magistrate, Folasade Aduroja, granted the prosecutor’s request for remand and ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. The court adjourned the case till November 28, 2023.
The defendant who pleaded for forgiveness said he committed the act under the influence of hard drugs.
He said, “We were both going, and we greeted each other on the path. The spirit just came over me to cut off Taye’s head. I can’t actually say what led to it. I think it was the ‘Ice’ I took in the hot sun.”
