Key things to know about nominated Youth Ministers Jamila Bio, Olawande
President Bola Tinubu announced the nomination of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim as the as the Minister of Youth and Ayodele Olawande to serve as the minister of state for youth.
This appointment was made known through a statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, who serves as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity.
It should be noted that this appointment is still subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Here are some key things to know about the new Ministers of Youth.
Jamila Bio Ibrahim is 37 years old, an indigene of Kwara State. She is a medical doctor and development practitioner.
Dr. Bio served as Senior Special Assistant to the current Governor of Kwara State on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also served as National President of the ruling All Progressives Congress Young Women Forum (APC-PYWF).
She is the daughter of Ibrahim Isa Bio, Former Minister of Sports under Goodluck Jonathan, and a Peace Clean Ambassador.
For sports, the newly nominated minister plays Polo to challenge societal barriers against women playing such sports. She is also a farmer.
Dr Bio is the Kwara State Focal Person for National Human Capital Development Programme, she is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador.
Mr Ayodele Olawande: Minister of State for Youth.
Mr. Ayodele Olawande is a community development expert and youth leader within the All Progressives’ Congress (APC).
Before his nomination his nomination as the Minister of State for Youth, Mr. Olawande served in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023.
