Kidnappers abduct 25 travellers in Ondo State

In a shocking incident, suspected kidnappers have abducted at least 25 travellers in the Ose local government area of Ondo state.

The victims, members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) choir from CAC Oke Igan in Akure, were en route to a programme in Ose council area, two of them being from the same family.

The abduction took place on Friday afternoon around 3pm while the choir members were on their way to Ifon in Ose local government area to attend a burial ceremony for one of their parents. The vehicle used to transport them was later discovered abandoned on the roadside.

It is worth noting that the Owo-Ifon-Benin road, where the incident occurred, has become known for its high incidence of kidnappings and armed robberies. Additionally, the road is presently in a deplorable condition, further adding to the risks faced by travellers.

Authorities and security agencies have been alerted to the situation, and efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the kidnapped travellers.
