Kidnappers demand ransom for 10 abducted Benue Links passengers
Kidnappers have made contact with the families of 10 passengers who were abducted from two buses belonging to Benue Links transport company on Sunday, September 10th, between Ajaokuta and Okene in Kogi State. Mr. Omale Omale, the Benue State Commissioner for Power, Energy, and Transport, shared this information on Tuesday while addressing the hijacking of the buses.
Omale also mentioned that the Benue State Government is in constant communication with the families of the kidnapped passengers.
Out of the initial total of 28 passengers taken from the two buses, 18, including the drivers, were released unharmed with the assistance of the police and local vigilante operatives. The rescued passengers have already arrived safely in Lagos.

“With the help of the Police in Kogi and the vigilante in the area, we were able to secure the safety of the two buses, drivers, and 18 passengers who arrived in Lagos unharmed,” Omale stated. However, 10 passengers, four from one bus and six from the other, still remain in the custody of the kidnappers.
The kidnappers have reached out to the families of the victims and have made several demands for ransom.
The government is actively engaged with the families and will ensure the safe release of all the passengers, assured the commissioner. Security personnel are on the ground to ensure that the remaining passengers regain their freedom without harm.
The commissioner further guaranteed that the company will implement additional measures to protect its valued customers.
