Lawyers in deep nap during tribunal’s rulings

During the live broadcast of the Presidential Election Tribunal ruling, some lawyers representing the political parties were observed dozing off while the court was delivering its judgment. The moment of their slumber was captured on camera during the proceedings.

To recall, the tribunal was ruling on the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). These parties had approached the tribunal separately to challenge the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February election.

In a recent development, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The five-member panel, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, maintained that the three cases against President Tinubu’s election would retain their separate identities.

The tribunal ruled that the APM’s petition lacked merit and dismissed it as incompetent. Additionally, the APM’s petition against the INEC and other respondents was also dismissed.

However, as of the time of filing this report, the rulings on the petitions brought forward by the LP and PDP were yet to be delivered by the court.
