Ondo police rescue 8 abducted CAC members

In a remarkable display of bravery and efficiency, the Ondo State Police Command successfully rescued eight Christian worshippers who were abducted by gunmen.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon at Elegbeka in Ose Local Government Area of the state. The victims, who are members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Igan, Akure, were traveling in a church bus to Ifon for a burial ceremony when they were ambushed and taken into the bush by the assailants.

Confirming the rescue operation, SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Spokesperson, stated that the victims were found unharmed. Seven women and one man were among those who were successfully rescued, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining individuals unharmed.

According to the victims’ accounts, they were held captive after being attacked by five gunmen who shot indiscriminately and forcefully dragged them into the bush while they were at Ajagbale via Elegbeka on the Ifon/Owo expressway.

Despite some speculations suggesting that the abductees managed to escape from their captors, the police spokesperson has confirmed that they were indeed rescued through a coordinated operation.
