Police launch inquiry into MohBad’s death amid controversy

The Police have assured the public of a thorough investigation into the tragic death of the late artist Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as MohBad.

MohBad, who passed away on Tuesday, had reportedly submitted a petition against Sam Larry a few months ago.

In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the Police extended their condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the deceased while announcing their intent to probe the circumstances surrounding his demise.

The Police stated: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as MohBad, who tragically passed away recently.

“We acknowledge the concerns and various speculations surrounding his untimely death.

“The Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation into this matter. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been assigned the task of unraveling the circumstances surrounding his death. Rest assured, we will provide updates as the investigations progress.

“The police have also appealed to family members or close friends of the late Afrobeats singer who possess crucial information to contact the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in the investigation.

“Meanwhile, we kindly request that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could compromise the ongoing investigation. Your trust and support are greatly appreciated.”

The death of MohBad has sparked outrage among netizens, with some pointing fingers at his former record label owner, Naira Marley, as well as Sam Larry.

Tensions escalated when it was revealed on X that MohBad had alleged that Sam Larry led an assault and made threats to his life during a music video shoot, as detailed in a letter dated June 27, 2023.
