Remains of 26-year-old student declared missing found in Karmo, Abuja
The lifeless body of Blessing Karami, a 26-year-old female student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), who had been declared missing on September 11, has been discovered.
Karami was reported missing after leaving her workplace in Garki, Abuja, on that fateful day. Her family, however, tragically announced her death on Wednesday evening.
Genesis Moses Karami, the deceased’s elder brother, who had relocated from Kaduna to Abuja to lead the search, revealed that her decomposing body was found in the Karmo district of the Federal Capital Territory.
He shared this information with The Whistler, an online platform.

He further disclosed that the police had arrested one Aminu, an alleged boyfriend of the deceased, who was being questioned regarding her disappearance.
Aminu is currently detained at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Durumi.
Meanwhile, the late student’s brother recounted a troubling experience at the police station.
He explained that on Tuesday evening, after he had left the station, he received a strange call providing details about the sister’s body. However, this call turned out to be false.
“The caller claimed to have seen a female body in Idu, so we asked him to describe what she was wearing, and he accurately described what my sister wore to the office on the day she went missing,” Moses Karami said.
Frustratingly, when he attempted to contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), he couldn’t get through. Consequently, he went to the police station in Karmo.
There, he encountered a group of policemen who were unsuccessful in locating the body, as the caller kept changing locations. However, despite the challenges, they eventually discovered his sister’s decomposed body on Wednesday.
“We found her decomposed body in the bush here at Karmo. It’s not something we can move easily, so we have to coordinate with the environmental authorities to assist in its removal. We cannot transport it, and we must bury her here, given the advanced state of decomposition,” Moses Karami said.
When contacted, Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), confirmed the tragic incident.
“The body of Blessing Karami Moses, a 26-year-old woman who had been missing since September 11, 2023, was tragically discovered in a wooded area in Karimo. Her disappearance was reported to the authorities on September 14, 2023.”
“We wish to inform the public that our primary focus at this time, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, is to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Blessing Karami Moses’ untimely death. Our commitment to this case is unwavering, and we are determined to uncover both the immediate and remote causes of this tragic incident.
“While we are working closely with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to facilitate the respectful retrieval of the decomposed remains, acknowledging the sensitive nature of this task, we will continue to provide updates to the public as our investigation progresses.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Blessing Karami Moses during this difficult time.”
