Rivers Governor suspends monarch, offers N100 million bounty for DPO’s murderers

In response to the “gruesome murder” of the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Bako Angbashim, by a group of criminals, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has taken decisive action.

The incident occurred in the Odiemudie Community within the Ahoada East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

SP Bako and his team fell into an ambush while returning from an operation, leading to an attack in which he was shot, captured, and tragically murdered by his captors.

Governor Fubara, in a personal statement issued on Saturday, announced the indefinite suspension of His Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, in connection with alleged complicity in allowing notorious criminal David Gift and his gang to operate freely within his territory.

Expressing condolences to the deceased officer’s family, Governor Fubara identified the prime suspects as “Mr. Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a. 2-Baba)” and all members of his criminal gang, declaring them wanted.

Furthermore, the governor pledged a reward of N100,000,000 for anyone providing valuable information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of Okpolowu.

Governor Fubara reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and its determination to bring Gift David and his gang to justice.

Governor Fubara paid tribute to SP Bako Angbashim, acknowledging his bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.

He extended condolences to his family and the State’s Police Command for their irreplaceable loss.
