Taliban arrests Nigerian for drug smuggling; faces intense flogging, deportation
The Taliban has arrested a Nigerian national in Afghanistan on charges of drug smuggling.
The arrest was announced via the Taliban’s official social media account on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
According to the statement, the suspect entered Afghanistan using fraudulent documentation and was subsequently apprehended for his involvement in drug smuggling.
Allegedly, his purpose in Afghanistan was to acquire narcotics for later transportation to Africa.

As part of his punishment, he is set to undergo intense flogging before being deported.
The statement released by the Taliban’s Public Relations Department read: “A #Nigerian gangster who entered our great country with fraudulent documentation was captured and charged with #drugs smuggling. He was in #Afghanistan to obtain drugs before transporting them to #Africa. He will be intensely flogged before being deported to Nigeria via #Kenya”.
