Yobe State authorities nab bandits possessing rocket launcher

In a recent development, the Yobe State Police Force successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of being bandits, identified as Hassan Abubakar and Abubakar Shehu.

The arrests were made when the suspects were found in possession of a Remotely Piloted Machine Gun (RPGM).

This incident underscores the unwavering commitment of the police force to maintain law and order in the state.

According to a statement released by the Police Spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the prime suspect, Abubakar (35), was apprehended in Karasuwa town on September 14th.

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted him while he concealed the rocket launcher in his vehicle. Furthermore, investigations revealed that Abubakar had been on a mission to collect the RPMG.

During questioning, Abubakar disclosed the involvement of his accomplice, Abubakar Shehu, also known as Kurma (32), from the Bare Bare area, near Maradun in Zamfara State.

Shehu was believed to be a courier for the bandits, transporting weapons to and from various locations across states such as Zamfara, Kano, Niger, Benue, and Yobe.

The diligent efforts of the Yobe police detectives led to the subsequent arrest of Shehu in Maradun.

The case is currently under investigation at the state headquarters.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, commended the detectives for their swift action and urged the public to continue providing credible information to assist in the fight against crime.

The arrests of these suspected bandits with a rocket launcher serve as a testament to the dedication of the Yobe State Police Force in ensuring the safety and security of the residents.

The state remains vigilant in its efforts to combat any form of criminal activity and will promptly bring those responsible to justice.
