NLC annouces suspension of indefinite strike action
The National Labour Congress (NLC) has announced the suspension of the planned nationwide indefinite strike, according to report by AIT. This decision came after a closed-door meeting between the NLC and Federal Government officials at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, addressed the media after the four-hour meeting, revealing that President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of a N25,000 increase in wages would now apply to all workers, not just “low-grade workers.”

To formalize the decision, the leadership of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) will convene with workers’ union representatives from across the country. This announcement brings relief to many, as the indefinite strike was scheduled to commence at midnight on Tuesday, October 3.
The meeting between Federal Government officials, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will reconvene on Monday to address further issues related to fuel subsidy removal interventions.
